Compliance

Having served the local community for almost 20 years, Leda Scaffolding takes great pride in showing the highest levels of commitment to all areas of compliance across the scaffolding sector; it is our number one priority. You can feel rest assured that from the beginning of a project through to the end, every element of health and safety will have been carefully considered and planned for.

NASC guidance

Everything we do encompasses the rationale behind the National Access and Scaffolding Confederation. They are the national trade body for scaffolding contractors and as such produce a wide range of industry-recognised health and safety guidance for scaffolding contractors to use.  This includes areas of expertise detailing arrangements for ‘Preventing falls in scaffolding operations’, for example. The guidance provided by NASC lays the foundations for all of our operations and methodology.

Insurances

Our customers’ safety is of utmost importance to us and as such we hold Public/Products and Employers’ Liability Insurance up to the value of £10 million as well as having Fleet Motor Insurance for our vast array of vehicles – ranging from vans up to 26 tonne HGVs.

Accreditations

We are SSiP accredited, holding both CHAS, SMAS and Scaffolding Association (assessed members) and work hard to ensure that each year we continue to meet the high standards required in order to gain these. Holding these accreditations saves all parties both time and money during the tendering stage, as the SSiPs provide assurance to our customers that we meet the necessary industry standards to carry out scaffolding works safely.

Health and Safety Consultants

We can seek support and guidance from our external health and safety consultants, The Health and Safety People (THSP), who have a reputable background in the construction industry. Their staff are highly trained individuals with the knowledge and expertise to support us with all health and safety queries. Working alongside them means that they know us as a company extremely well. We are audited yearly and strive to work to make improvements as a company year on year.
They provide us with the necessary information to ensure we meet all legal requirements related to other health and safety topics such as COSHH, health surveillance, welfare and fire.

Training

All of our staff hold a wide range of industry-specific qualifications many of which are accredited by CITB, and we are dedicated to implementing a well-planned CPD program to ensure all of our operatives’ training stays up to date with legislation and changes in the industry. Examples of qualifications our operatives hold include:

Our operatives undergo a planned schedule of weekly Toolbox Talks, delivered by our Contracts Manager and Site Supervisors, to ensure that they are kept up to date with current thinking with regards to health and safety topics within the scaffolding and construction sector. They also abide by our in-depth Health and Safety policy, ensuring not only their own protection but that of our customers too.

Scaffolding Documentation

As part of our package to you, we are able to provide site-specific Risk Assessments and Method Statements for individual contracts, written by our Operations Manager who holds SMSTS, to ensure that the all works are carried out to the highest of safety standards. These are changed and amended dependent on how the project develops over time to ensure all risks and hazards are identified and mitigated at all times.

Throughout the duration of the project, we will ensure that our scaffolding is erected and dismantled to the highest of standards. Once the scaffold is complete, you will be issued with a scaffold handover certificate, indicating that the scaffolding is safe for use. If required, we can provide weekly scaffold inspections (subject to charge). We use ScaffTags on our scaffolding structures, to indicate where scaffolding is safe/unsafe to use.

If required, we are able to provide technical drawings for a variety of scaffolding projects. We have an excellent relationship with several scaffolding design companies, who provide a quick turn around for us to be able to make headway with the project. These drawings show the critical technical information required in order for the project to be agreed and carried out as safely as possible.

Plant and Equipment

All staff are assigned quality PPE to be able to carry out their roles safely and are trained to check their PPE before each use to ensure its integrity and to minimise the risk of injury. This includes but is not limited to: Hard hats, steel toe cap boots, harness and lanyard, hi-vis vests, goggles, ear protection, respiratory masks and gloves.
Our lifting equipment undergoes yearly LOLER thorough inspection and regular servicing to ensure our equipment remains safe to use. All of our vehicles undergo regular scheduled servicing and MOTs to ensure that they remain roadworthy at all times. This in turn increases our reliability in being able to attend our different projects in a timely manner.
